Photos to accompany Blogging Oxford

Photos of Exeter College chapel with its beautiful stained glass windows before early music (harsichord) concert by Sweet Zephyr group. Reminded me of similar concert in St. Chappelle in Paris.

The next six photos are of Christ Church showing the very famous dining hall featured in the Harry Potter movies.

OxfordStreet.jpg

My first impression of Oxford is "overwhelming". The erudition, history, and culture just ooze up from its cobblestone streets. And this is without even seeing the inside of its colleges and museums.

Obviously couldn't wait to take the photo! Yummy!

The open courtyard in the center of Rewley House where we meet, chat, relax, and get ready for the next meal!

The next several photos were taken on the Inspector Morse tour--very informative but I didn't take notes so can't identify each photo.

The famous Turf Tavern. The original painting of Inspector Morse and his Jaguar was stolen and this is its replacement--not nearly as good.

Famous fish and chips at Eagle and Child Pub, famous hangout of CS Lewis and Tolkein. Right around the corner from where I'm staying.

streetwhereilive.jpg

I'm staying at 12 Wellington Square, part of Oxford's incredible continuing education center called Rewley House.

Waiting for the start of Taming of the Shrew - inner courtyard of Bodleian Library.

My tutor Jonathan Miles talking to a student. He is author of Wreck of the Medusa and The Nine Lives of Otto Katz. Both historical non-fiction accounts.

bulletinboard.jpg

The notice board filled with extracurricular activities to sign up for. I'm going to Evening Song at Christ Church (of Harry Potter fame), took part in the Pub Quiz last night, and will be doing a poety reading at The Baby and Bird on Thursday.
